What drives me crazy is that there is a legitimate argument that some people in the top ~.1% living on investment income are underpaying. But the populists on both the left and right want to lump every doctor, engineer, lawyer, and other professionals into that same group.

"mid-2000s"? Is this from 15 years ago? Also if US has a disproportionate number of millionaires, this would put more people in a higher tax bracket and skew the data. Similarly if wages were twice as high in US for the same job should we question them paying more tax?

1. This is from 15 or so years ago. There has been tax cuts since then. One just passed by previous admin. 2. It’s the top 1% that’s not paying their fair share. Top 10% are mainly mid to upper Mgt worker households at $200K/yr+

Now do income distribution by country. I suspect you’ll find a larger portion of extreme poverty in the US that skews the meaning of this chart.
