I'm particularly disappointed that people in the ML community, who should know better, have swallowed climate models unquestioningly.

Some people who agree with you on many tech and political issues may disagree with you on climate change and global warming issues, and on quite substantive grounds.
Sure, but climate models are atrocious, and ML experts should be some of the first to point it out, whether or not they agree with the overall climate agenda.

I think an exhaustive debate about climate models is healthy and I encourage it, including critiques from the best minds in the ML community. There is room for multiple differing views on the models and how to interpret them. But overall I find CC/GW issues to be concerning.

Not speaking as an expert here on either climate or the modeling thereof; but hasn't it become clear that if anything these models UNDER-estimated the speed of warming?

No. It is precisely this incentive of alarmism (that you’ve manifested) that corrupts the models and their authors to be biased towards predicting an apocalypse every 12 years when the actual results are actually much more benign.
