This will need to be eventually confronted by the people that make up society. There are no societies that last that are built on the powers u mention. These folks have abused the privilege that comes with establishing stable institutions only to slowly start destroying them.
A lot of what's happening in academia today is best understood by noting that the levers of power are now largely in the hands of feminist dinosaurs - creatures from another age, still fighting the battles they fought in the 70s as if nothing has changed.
