Allen Newell was one of the leading symbolists, but he hired Geoff Hinton, the leading connectionist, to have a diversity of viewpoints at CMU. We need more of that.

Yes I know and agree with you. The problem is the connectionists think deep learning enough. That is why the reverse would not happen.
