Understanding why it actions deviated from a control unit vs understanding why it's actions were "coded" that way in the first place. In both cases, humans are doing it in post; no reason to on-board that (as if we could with current tech).

The ethicists'/activists' demands for software "transparency" are frequently extreme, uninformed and absurd.

Their one legitimate complaint is that people don't use sufficiently broad samples. Everything else is just agitation (which is fine, but it shouldn't be disguised as "hard STEM" work). And too many of them think they have permission to publicly bash their employers.
