There’s no such thing as universal ethics, because what’s best for an individual is not what’s best for the collective - both must compromise and transact with each other to make progress. And in doing so, both aim to deceive the other in that exchange.

Any individual that denies this contradiction has either lost, or is playing the game of deception to advance their agenda. Each individual’s intrinsic goal is to out-compete every other in the game of genetic selection and proliferation. It drives all motivation and action.

Actually, as "universal ethics" is so obviously a non-starter (other than in the blinkered perception of philosophy, religion and politics) I think there is an argument that AI is also a product of society, and therefore the question is how society will change both AI and ethics!
