That's been the plan for decades now. Semiconductor factories are made in Europe, though (ASML), so we could rebuild an industry after a number of years.
When China has annexed Taiwan and taken control of the largest and most advanced semiconductor industry in the world, it'll be able to bully even the US.

Honestly, it's cheaper to create that industry in the US than to project military power halfway across the world. What would it cost? I bet less than $1 trillion.

One might think Taiwan would put charges to blow up all that’s valuable at TSMC if PLA invades. US B2’s with thermobaric bombs would finish whatever’s left. China isn’t going to get TSMC intact.
