If eg. the EU meets its electric car targets, it would reduce the EU's CO2 by 13% (60% reduction of 72% road transport emissions of 30% total emissions). But it's not the point: electric cars are coming independently of emission targets, and Tesla is the current leader.

Pedro, a large fraction of people buying tesla's don't give a shit about the environment. They are great cars that are the closest thing to computer + car ever created.

The biggest CO2 reduction will come from autonomy + ride sharing. The % of utilization of each car will be ~90% instead of 5% so ~10 times less cars will be needed. Also fleet optimization with algos/AI etc.. ICEs don't make economic sense in that scenario, too expensive per km.

Nobody knows if level 5 is tractable without long term planning and having a lot of arbitrary knowledge about the world. If it is then solving it could take many years. On the other hand the FSD beta perception layer is impressive, I didn't expect something so good so soon.
