Progressive taxes, where some pay disproportionately more than others, are the epitome of unfairness.

So a fairer tax is one that in your eyes taxes the poorest more, while the other end of the spectrum won't feel it at all? Hmmm. Neither system can be perfectly fair, but I am not at all swayed by flat tax arguments, given who would *actually lose* under such a system.
A flat tax taxes everyone equally as a fraction of their income, and the rich more in absolute terms. That’s fairer than progressive taxes, IMHO.

What’s interesting to me is that we have both no doubt read arguments from both sides and have landed on opposite positions. My notions of fairness and societal responsibility are such that I find your position hard to understand, even less see what might persuade me. Hmmm.
