Ramanujan was “disadvantaged” but he didn’t need a crutch.
The increasing focus on "disadvantaged groups" in computer science research is questionable, because the highest-impact research seeks to benefit everyone, not just some. Few if any of the greatest advances in the field would have happened under such a focus.
