Very idyllic picture. In reality, it is controlled by powerful groups and very much squared within few paradigms

I wouldn't be so pessimistic. Artificial Intelligence especially if we're talking about general intelligence is going to be very decentralized. Why? You see, "intelligent" beings don't usually get along with each other as can be seen in any conference involving say geometers.

I find AI hardware quite interesting as well. Is it going to be traditional, general purpose CISC hardware or faster, more parallelized RISC-like processors. Both GPUs and tensor units are really gonna broaden, decentralize the AI space though. Traditional CPUs as well.
