In India - few hundred thousand people sit for an engineering entrance exam competing for 1500 seats. I bet the topper in that exam learnt how to ‘crack’ the exam not that he/she was the smartest !! P1/2

P2/2 for example you really believe we the people in top universities / companies in US are smarter than all the friends who couldn’t crack the exam ? I think we could afford to be ‘well trained’

I just think we don’t have a better way to measure intelligence - for example ‘h index’ is just a smart hack to quantify research output !! Of course some brilliant theory papers get no citations and papers with some crappy plots and ‘intuitively we think’ gets highly cited ..

Equality is real problem - just because we have been super privileged - we probably can’t be arrogant about it !! But then i absolutely agree with you that there is no point shouting against the existing algorithms (entrance exams ) like SAT unless you have a provably better one

So the gifted are another target for the woke in their race to the bottom. A rising tide lifts all ships but apparently the woke is anti tide.

The anti SAT stuff annoys me but the push to get rid of gifted and talented classes in schools genuinely freaks me out. That's just completely insane for a society that wants to compete with a rising China.

When a metric shows poor performance in teaching underprivileged people by public K-12 education, we must throw out the metric. When it does so for other areas, such as policing, we must highlight that metric.

Imagine if police were trained by Universities and teachers elsewhere, would academic theory decry teachers as white supremacists that should be defunded and provide cover for police?
