Perversely, the most important things are the hardest to innovate in, because they're the most regulated (e.g., health).

Why perversely? It is of course easier to innovate in fields with low risks for users. Would you ever choose to fly with an innovative airplane just after a pitch of the CEO reporting only model simulations? Regulations are not for limiting innovation, but for protecting people.

True. But the protection that regulation offers (which is sometimes illusory) needs to be weighed against the compliance costs it imposes on firms, as well as the cost to consumers in the form of restricting their access to better products and services.

I think that's exactly correct. Fda is regulating like it's 1950, where half of all drugs were snake oil.

I can’t remember what website I saw it on OECD or World Bank but, Not every country had to follow the same standards on every Industry. Some countries are given leeway’s in certain Industries that other countries aren’t. I’ll see if I can find it again
