Isn't it a bit inconsistent to cancel college curricula in the name of free speech and pushing back against cancel culture?

I suppose the closest analogue from the left is anti-discrimination law which constrains curricula. This is a huge reduction of liberty, but most would say necessary due to the threats posed to Americans' wellbeing. Does social justice rise to this level?
