There is nothing in this letter that remotely justifies not giving the Turing Award to Jeff Ullman. Have some sense of proportion.

What I get from this letter is that these people disagree with his politics, & think he has been a jerk to Iranians. I’m not sure why that would make him ineligible for the award, but they are welcome to advocate for their position, I guess.

His work was foundational. (period) IMO: we want more Iranian students and give them green cards! I read his old website: https://web.archive.org/web/20200129080549/http://infolab.stanford.edu/~ullman/pub/iranian.html … Not a problem IMHO. I also love Native American history and want to bolster them, but they themselves are the 4th wave of settlement.
