there is a difference, the problem of AI is more like we want to go to the core of the earth. which we don't even know it's possible to be there.
The state of AI: We're currently trying to go to the moon by building airplanes with millions of propellers, but someone needs to invent rockets.

Human interfacing seems like the natural yet terrifying progression. Once you can make a useful app or two, I can see that taking off, and gradually escalating to more interlinked, “smart” software that does tasks on demand, which is made more and more predictive.
