Why is it not a valid argument? Also, doing away with meritocracy doesn't mean doing away with all aspects of it. Just the ones that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
"Meritocracy isn't perfect, so let's do away with it" is not a valid argument.

Meritocracy isn't unique, Pedro. Even during the terrible slavery, the meritorious ones must've fared better. Doesn't mean the system was good. No one is doing away with merit but only with the nonsensical way of the workplace.

Meritocracy is a natural consequence of specialization. Without specialization, we cannot have a viable market economy, and society and economics as we know it would collapse. Prior restraint or policies of that nature in economics only have disastrous consequences for progress.
