Yeah, same with graduate students. When I was in grad school I didn't participate in any of the departmental politics because I saw grad school as a means to an end. Get in, do research, write papers and a dissertation, and graduate so I can move to the next stage of my career.

I believe it has been a failure upstream from them. A failure to shield them from bullshit and let Physicists focus on Physics, etc. We need our best minds focused on their passions, not the low-brow gossip of the woke.
