We need an alternative to today's ultra-expensive, politicized, unaccountable, bloated, tech-backward, students-come-last universities.

Start by reforming the obsolete four-year bachelor's degree. Meaningful coursework can be compressed into a shorter program, such as the three-year bachelor's degrees offered in the UK.

They should also discontinue the GRE which is a patently outmoded exam that does not test incoming students for aptitude in their field of study in any significant way.

When foreign students begin voting with their wallets the universities will probably begin to see changes to their policies.

Even then, as long as agenda based research funding continues, I don't see universities contributing as much as they could to society.
