A good measure of equality in an economy is: how many products are the same for everyone, vs. better for the rich? By this measure, today's tech companies are major engines of equality.

Not such a good measure. One should also critically look at how many products meet the needs of everyone vs. just meeting the needs of the rich.

Its true in theory that tech products are accessible to anyone, but in practise most funding goes to companies targeting enterprise or other tech cos as customers. If tech is available to peons, its to collect data and sell up the chain.
