To be fair, *both* Google and Timnit were wrong. The latter falsely claimed there are "racial/misogynistic/etc" sentiments behind Google's decisions. While Google should never play the role of a peer-reviewer. That's utterly illegitimate.
Google was OK with publishing the paper, just not with putting its name on it.

not really, you can just read the emails. The point is that an internal peer-reviewed of a private company could be seen legitimately as a censorship. Ah and mocking her does not look that good on your intellectual honesty on this matter
