I think it's too late... there's no letting it run it's course. Things have permanently shifted.

Ideally we operate homeostatically in good faith as a society—with a slowly adjusting DC bias. But in practice, it almost always takes a crisis, as certain as market bubbles. Something to do with our human inability to feel the future vs just knowing it.
