These debates are generally tedious, though, because the folks on the opposing side take so much as a given. Their "logic" is wholly circular. When you start from the premise that society is incurably racist and to deny that is to certify one's racism...where is there to go??

@pmddomingos Please don’t reduce this deep discussion to a reality TV show. The written arguments and rebuttals have been going so well, why would you want to constrain it with the restrictions of a live debate?

The written debate is frustrating because it is an uneven playing field. Domingos has the moral high ground but Karger has an easier job of opting out of that position because of possible loopholes. Meanwhile, the woke cares not about these subtleties as long as "their side wins"

I, too, think the written form does more to further critical thought than a live debate. Both have their place in civilized discourse, but IMO more can be learned from the writing, and a live debate is more likely to be politicized and infected with extraneous variables.

I think there's better representatives of both sides. Even better, representatives who don't think there are sides.
