I saw the exchange. He dared to make a funny little quip and then others opportunistically seized upon it to score points. “Deranged” does come to mind if he was referring to the professor who circulated an enemies’ list of politically suspect professors and graduate students.
Which I was. They were to be canceled just because they followed me or liked one of my tweets. If that's not deranged, I don't know what is.
