Models should be as accurate as possible. The place to insert your values is in the decision processes that make use of them.
It does, but part of my point is that the loss function should be about accuracy (e.g., least squares), not social goals (e.g., fairness by one definition or another).

Don’t we already step away from this when we optimize for recall over precision (or vice versa) depending on the domain/use case a model is being deployed for.
