They want control of it. They want the bias in their favor not 0 bias.

I'm all against the use of AI for state control purposes or other evil aims, like ethnic identification using images of faces etc. The problem is that if you don't develop the technology publicly, someone else will privately.

All technology is a double edge sword. It can be used for good but very often can have evil applications. When you talk about ethics, the end goal is king much more than being absorbed in your own model.

There is hardly even a pinch of resistance to hyper-woke-ness in AI ethics, nevermind conservative voices. I’d hope the future will bring independent, nonpartisan perspectives. We’re a million miles from that today.

I dont trust anyone who majored in eithics anywhere near my ML projects. And i think the recent push to be involved and have control isnt as selfless any many are presenting. At best it is a push to get usless art grads paid roles at worst they want control of AI.

You seriously believe that people who have spent their entire lives studying morality and society should have no say in how AI and other socially transformative technologies should be deployed?
