I find the academia nowadays too driven by capitalism. I understand we need funding but how the lives of many profs revolve around funding is not healthy for the academia.

Also, publishers can help increase the diversity of their articles by asking reviewers to understand funding constraints. Right now, big institutions in rich countries have unfair advantages over institutions from countries whose gov doesn't offer as much funding as the US
