Thank you for providing such a good example of the attempted misuse of Title IX to crush free speech and academic freedom.
Please stop misrepresenting what I say and trying to bully people, and get back to the real issue: the fact that NIPS search results are not nearly as much of a problem as you want to make them, and in any case that doesn't justify changing the conference's name.

Googling "nips" from an incognito window on a work machine gets me (all first page): neurips material, food, breasts, and ethnic slurs. Googling "neurips" gets me lots of ML and one news story about the name change. How is this not a massive improvement?

NIPS is offensive on several levels- and if people do not see this then I speak to their entitlement and call it out.

Way I see it, changing the conference name is surely a smaller problem than minimising and invalidating other peoples' experience, despite any pretenses to the contrary. Real issue: why are the people who are so passionate against it, *really* against it?
