Anima, the NIPS name change was a terrible idea, and the community properly rejected it. What's sad is that in the end you still managed to get the acronym changed to the current clunky, confusion-promoting one.

And CVPR, ICML, ICCV, AAAI, SIGKDD, IJCAI, IJCNN, and ECMLPKDD all just roll off the tongue!
Notice that all of those are proper acronyms, unlike NeurIPS, with four letters from the first word.

Should have just changed it to SNIP. Society for Neural Information Processing. Eliminates the unfortunate previous acronym; counters your "but it's not an acronym argument" and everyone can make conference jokes about vasectomies instead of breasts.
