I just use data-set all the time now! Subconsciously I suppose.

Oh yes. Absolutely. Like "information". In Finnish it is (that's how we ended up absorbing the word to our language), and it works splendidly. I mentally use it like that in English, and only need to be conscious of grammar rules. So, yes.

But then folks would be denied the pleasure of appearing educated by saying things like, "The data are of poor quality..." :-)
