    Among the most well subscribed to ad hominem arguments. Presumably when kids are wrong, they are wrong based on reason, not time elapsed since birth.

    No one should listen to kids. Their brains aren't even fully developed yet. Stop with this. America's obsession with youth is backwards and misguided and is for sure part of the death of art and culture here. More englightened cultures look up to tenured and accomplished elders.

    I wish Google Maps had a "I'm walking home by myself at night" mode that would show you a way with well lit paths and open spaces. It always seems to take you on narrow, dark pathways in cities 😕

    There’s something to the idea that certain environments are conducive to the perception that all games within the environment are zero-sum. Creativity is the antidote. It gives us an infinite toolkit for addressing progress and overrides the need to compete. Also creating is fun.

    I've certainly noticed that social media is highly effective at destroying relationships between people who got along okay in real life. Something about the present dynamics of social media (Twitter in particular) seems to push people towards a Hobbesian war of all against all.

    Also, stealing is a kind of lying, both destroy or stagnate the growth of knowledge. Growth comes from honesty and humility because they encourage creativity.

    They'll develop a habit of stealing, and eventually get caught. The upside is bounded, the downside is not (Asymmetric Risk). Self-esteem is just the reputation that you have with yourself - you'll always know. It's hard to be present / peaceful when carrying internal secrets.

    CR thought that occurred to me: Since the rise of Flat Eartherism, I’ve become much more clear about the round Earth explanation rather than just accepting it uncritically. Great because the Mind-Virus description of bad ideas breeds fear, when reality is really quite encouraging

    And wouldn’t that mean that it refutes the notion of cooperative game theory? It comes down to an intuition that plutocracy is bad and if we use (b) we can understand where it comes from, but it doesn’t explain why plutocracies are bad besides presuming it.

    Refers to individual choice game theory (a) and cooperative game theory (b). Preferring the use of (b) to argue that political systems are inherently fallible (rather than Arrow’s theorem) Doesn’t Arrow question our ability to truly cooperate?

    Man is an incredible writer. Read to understand limits of mechanism design w/o identity (which he argues we should commit more work to).

    This is weird: isn’t breaking any laws, neither are people who go heli-skiing, or UFC fighters or people who have terrible diets but if you eat a particular kind of fungus that makes you laugh a lot then you should be arrested and/or seek drug counselling.

    Do you think we should, or should not, legalise drugs like acid and mushrooms? I'd like to read your thoughts. My latest in , though out there, might change your mind.
