I think the West doesn't build anymore is because of completely broken politics and immigration. There is no more national pride because the West has diluted what citizenship means. Anyone can walk into US/Canada and have a citizen baby - and get government money for it!

that bit about walking in and having a citizen baby has always been the case though. it's not new. Politics and cronyism are probably the main 2 factors. Immigration, in Canada especially, is used as a lazy way to grow gdp because canada doesn't make anything anymore
