Of course not, which is why I continue to call for an end to the drug war.
#EndTheDrugWar to reduce homelessness, addiction, overdoses and violence in our community.https://mobile.twitter.com/davidminpdx/status/1416607449985929220 …

@msliberal3 , Are you completely convinced that this public corruption case would have proceeded with mayor breeds DA? Why do you support the city families selection for DA versus the voice of the people?#StandWithChesa in the face of public corruption.https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2020/09/03/san-francisco-da-boudin-charges-former-public-health-official-in-widening-corruption-case/ …2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

I signed the Chesa recall petition. I plan on voting yes to recall him. He isn’t doing his job to make anyone safe in SF He isn’t implementing progressive policies I don’t understand why any political party would support him, and public safety should be a nonpartisan issue.

Violent crime is down and 40% fewer people are in jail. These are huge accomplishments and why he was elected. No one can make you “feel safe” but yourself. That’s not the job of elected officials. If violent crime was rampant or even up, you might have a case but it’s not.

Some violent crimes are indeed up, but overall *reported* crime is down. I don’t think this get to the heart of the matter, but you did touch on it, about people feeling “safe”, which varies across different groups, and naturally, individual experiences.

My own take is that too many of the decisions made by our DA’s office beggar belief. Sue ghost gun manufacturers? Good idea - have at it! Decline to prosecute a felon arrested with a ghost gun, who’s released and then is arrested for two subsequent murders? That’s indefensible.

The only reasons why this recall has any traction at all is peoples feelings. Because of Covid and all it’s ancillaries, which I can go into much speculative detail if you want, people don’t feel safe. That’s really a personal psychological problem.

I am not the most empathetic person to peoples personal safety. I am a Vet and someone who grew up in poverty who thinks that pretty much all of San Francisco is very safe. I wouldn’t walk though parts of Viz Valley at night unarmed.

The whole “released someone who committed murders” is bullshit and propaganda. Every DA has done that at one point.

That’s not what I was getting at, not in that sense. A prosecutor prosecutes. That’s the job, in the description. Failing to charge and declining to prosecute serious felony cases with poor reasons that turn out to be excuses isn’t cutting it. That’s what I see from where I sit.

thats not true, they make decisions on whether to prosecute or not all the time
