I just chased down a shoplifter and helped recover stolen goods. I’ve seen this shit happening a lot more lately.
You can say ‘pandemic’ but our DA @chesaboudin, for whom I idiotically voted, is giving carte blanche and free passes to criminals and it’s getting out of hand.

Now that is an excellent thread! Seriously thank you for giving me something to think about. I knew there was more to your original comment. You seem to know a lot about this and I hope you can apply your knowledge professionally one day. 1/

In any case, and this is with my limited knowledge only informed by various articles, but the DA filed no criminal charges regarding previous offenses. I understand your explanation. 2/

I’m not saying that every instance like this is avoidable, but the system is seriously broken and yes, I do think with a more proper handling the outcome would have been less likely. 3/

Blame doesn’t lie solely with the DA, and I agree there wasn’t anything substantially not ethically wrong, but there seems to be a huge gray area between the office and the state parole board. 4/

However, Mr. McAllister should have been put in jail for his numerous other offenses. I do disagree that his character shouldn’t have bearing on the matter as he’s proven multiple times he didn’t belong on the streets. 5/

If anything I hope this sheds light on future arrests and events. While unavoidable I’d hope chances of something like this are diminished. I’ve got nothing much more to say other than accountability has to be a high priority and this tragedy can bring some change to the process.
