I just chased down a shoplifter and helped recover stolen goods. I’ve seen this shit happening a lot more lately.
You can say ‘pandemic’ but our DA @chesaboudin, for whom I idiotically voted, is giving carte blanche and free passes to criminals and it’s getting out of hand.

Hi and thank you for your clarification
Even though this individual should have been charged for one of the three felonies they committed? He is in custody right now due to the homicides and I doubt that Covid has crippled our ability to detain persons deemed dangerous. 1/ -
With my experience and what I learned I do not believe there was any chance that he would have been held for these low level crimes, felony doesn't mean anything, they judge the actual actions of the person.

I have spoken with someone at the DA’s office and while they tried to explain aspects of it, I stand by the notion that the offender should have been charged for previous crimes and the DA being unwilling to do so was a major factor in their release 2/

I don't think that it would be likely that Troy would have been held by a judge for his crimes, we do not usually do that in this country it's very unusual. Generally rejecting bail only happens for people likely to flee the country or incredibly dangerous like murderers.

rerelease, and the ultimate deaths of two people. It seems there’s been some blame between the state and the city response. Bottom line is this shouldn’t have happened, Justice is not being taken seriously and neither though on crime nor soft on crime really works. 3/

I think a balance is sorely needed. I thank you for your time. You strike me as someone who cares and we need more of that. Hope you have a great day.

Personally I think that's untenable, at best the justice system can serve perpetrators and victims, it cannot be a shield that protects society from tragedy or be a system to prevent tragedy ahead of time. The fact that those 2 people died is horrible, but it was a car accident.
