Due to hiring freezes & our prioritization of felonies, our misdemeanor team shrunk as we kept filing new cases. The result: average caseloads rose from ~150 in 2019 to nearly 250 today. That is too many cases for one attorney, no matter how hard working. We need more lawyers.

That's what people who cut corners tell themselves all the time. I doubt the DA is going to take any advice from the loser.
