    It was harder to spot wildlife because of the vegetation and less need to concentrate around water sources. But the animals were in really good shape!

    We had some plans curtailed, but they had it worse in the Maasai Mara, where ten camps were washed away or flooded, and one person died.

    Rain still continues to fall at Ithumba, into February, and as a result, it's beginning to look more like a jungle than the northern area of Tsavo, with creepers and greens so tall that they are beginning to swallow the orphans :)

    Left a bag on the plane at Frankfurt for the first time in my life. Kudos to the Fundbüro for getting it back to me through multiple layers of security well before our connecting flight.

    Two eight-hour flights plus a six-hour layover plus two hours total transit on either side. That adds up to twenty-four hours, right? My brain is already not working.

    The food at all the Sheldrick properties was great – excellent soups and mains, varied salads and vegetable dishes, desserts including fresh homemade ice cream.

    I've previously tweeted about our first two camps (). The third one was Umani Springs, in Kibwezi Forest.

    There are several camps operated by near their reintegration units. I already tweeted about Ithumba Hill.

    Why bring an HDMI cable on safari? So when back in Nairobi, one can use the hotel room TV to look at photos and videos on a large screen.
