Playdate at PAX report! It went quite well — thank you so much for coming by and meeting us. Four days, eight Playdates, and way more than 2,500 people who got a chance to play Crankin'. Christa took some great video:

Hardware-wise, to our relief, not a single Playdate or crank broke! A couple cranks got a bit sticky, which we're analyzing now. Plus a couple software crashes. But overall we passed the PAX stress test! (Which sadly meant I didn't get to hand out these cards I had ready… 😅)

The back reads "Normally, we might be sad, but one of the secret reasons we're here at PAX is to get some real world stress testing on our system. Thank you."

Crankin' was fun for many and tricky for some — it's tough with a time limit and a crowded booth and occasionally people would just run into the enemies over and over again thinking they had to crank faster. But, there were a lot of great lightbulb moments when people got it!

The back of our booth had a little art gallery of Playdate history. But the fun bit was this fancy-pants still life in the middle — we staged the photo ourselves, then had it hand-painted overseas, just for PAX. A real oil painting! It belongs in a (weird) museum!
A picture of the Playdate oil painting. Think candles, fruit, fancy bowls, and a Playdate resting at the bottom.

We gave out a bajillion free stickers. We sold some shirts. We got to know a lot of great people. It was a lot of fun. And now, back to work!
