Playdate in 24 Hours: • 70,000+ people on the wait list • Thousands of interested devs • Some skeptics (we understand) • 23k Twitter followers (hi!) • Most importantly… an overwhelming flood of positivity + excitement from people who also want this weird thing we want (!!!)

who took your beautiful photos?

We finally have a real camera in the office for the first time ever! So that's a Neven + Christa production in the back conference room, with Helen taken off tech support to model!
-
They're real good! Well done everyone.

I haven’t been this excited for a video game console/game since No Man’s Sky and we all know how that turned out. I have a feeling Playdate won’t do me as dirty as Sean Murray.

-
You gotta respect that team for not just running away to Bermuda with sacks of cash, though — they've really stuck it through some rough storms and they keep making that dang game better!! That takes real guts!! I like 'em!!

Guys please bring a backlit option, so we can play in the waiting line afternoon, coming back home in the dark bus at night, in the bed without another light source. Save us from searching for the right angle cause the light is weak :(
-
So unlike an LCD, which has transparency to let a backlight shine through, ours is extremely reflective on the back and lets NO light shine through, so backlight isn’t possible! We tested a front light solution and it was… not great. But we’ll keep researching for future models!
-
Thank you! Please keep looking, I've had such bad experience with a Kindle, I wish I had bought the backlit one back then :(
-
But this brings the feel of the game boy.pic.twitter.com/o2c4oRH1Sv

Found a better resolution for this gif. Such nostalgic feel, but I don't miss it really, I had an external light that looked like a mini light post plugged into the Gameboy >.>pic.twitter.com/2wEYbTBadk

Rookie move; you gotta use the headlights of the cars behind you.

It would be extra credit if the crank could be made to also trickle charge the battery, I like the idea that it would keep going off grid/in a zombie apocalypse!

I want this, I want this now, and I want to make a game with little Tomogatchi like monsters and hopefully they can connect to each other.

This looks incredible. So happy to see companies willing to take a leap of faith with a great idea. Can’t wait to learn more and more about this.

Couple questions... 1. Are you gonna let thousands of devs put games on here?? 2. Is there gonna be more than 70,000 units???

Please! find someone to develop a game for this device that is a combination of those cool digivice/gigapet toys but the same battle/trade mechanics of Pokemon. I swear it would be amazing! still can't wait for this to be out so I can buy one for myself.

Didn't see a 'sign up as interested dev' on the website. Please point me in the right direction
