I'm not sure if there is an official socialist line on this exact scenario, but I'd assume most leftists would probably say that authors should get more than they currently do, as should printing press workers, but publishing company owners should get less

Ok, that’s a bit generic but let’s go with it. So who decides who gets what in that relationship?
-
Assuming you’ve made co-ops the only legal form of business entity. Also what happens if the book becomes that popular that the author is required to seek assistance with menial tasks such as diary keeping. They can’t hire an assistant in this model, so do they then form a co-op?
-
And if so, who decides the value of the assistance’s contribution?
-
In my world, the details of arrangements between author and publishing is decided just like now, by negotiation. Same for author & assistant (being self employed is also allowed). There is a legal minimum wage of course.
-
Just my views of course, don't know if I'm representative of socialism, bit I think I am broadly representative of the modern left. We're not really after major changes, fully centralised/ planned economies etc.
-
So does the modern left believe in property rights?
-
As in people should be able to open their house etc? Sure, I think that's widely accepted other than at the fringes on the left.
