There's so much more comedic potential (which the show sometimes achieves!) in having a buffoon like Cunk try and feign interest in things that are way above her capacity to understand. Rather than having her run around and call everything stupid and boring

This is a more minor complaint but I just don't believe a TV presenter (even a dumbass like Cunk) would openly express so much contempt for the subject matter. She literally calls everything "boring" all the time. It feels like a cheap joke every time it's used (which is a lot)

This joke makes no sense. The idea is that she's "slipped up" and accidentally admitted she's not actually in the world's oldest city, but she's clearly reading off a pre-written script.

Like, some of the jokes are genuinely witty (the ones that aren't lame and predictable) but they just make no sense coming from this character. She's constantly careening wildly between being super clever (1) and a total dimwit (2). This is bad character-based comedy.

My biggest problem is the inconsistency of Cunk's character. One minute she's like "durr I don't know how a wheel works" and the next she's rapidly firing off a killer like this one. So, she's somehow both a total blockhead and brilliantly quick-witted and sharp?

Really wish I liked this show but honestly I can't stand Cunk on Earth. I have so many issues with the consistency of the character, the in-universe logic and the construction of the jokes. It's just a tonal mess. Please allow me to rant about this 🧵
