this shouldn’t work on windows! They don’t use a TTY and it depends a lot on how you popped the shell. If this works on win I’m gonna jump of a cliff

It doesn't have anything to do with the remote host. If you pop up Unix shells you'll share the history file unless specified. rlwrap just buffer the input before you hit enter. And voilà, command line editing in non-interactive shells

Pro tip: man rlwrap -f . will make rlwrap use the current history file as a completion word list. -r Put all words seen on in- and output on the completion list. rlwrap -r -f . nc -l -v -p 443
