I'm sorry for what came across as defensive. Again, I meant no disrespect. But apologies are one thing. Actions are another: - All games will now be linked to download. - We'll revise the way we tag/title livestreams. I promise to improve. Hopefully this is a good start.

Thank you for moving forward on this and updating your policies. It really means a lot to us and I know it will mean a lot to other developers in the future. I know this situation sucks right now but I think you're doing the right thing here.
-
This is amazing! It's not very common for people as of late to respond with genuine acceptance and conversation to fix issues when presented with them. I love Game Theory and Pirate Software's work on Heartbound, and look forward to seeing all the progress in the future! Rock on!

Let's just call out a youtuber to get even more publicity on a game. Marketing strategy.

-
Think of it this way: You made a game and a popular Youtuber plays it. You are happy for the attention until you realize that they didn't link your game or messed up in some other way. How are people going to find your game easily?
-
I get it. I've read the thread. I see it from both sides, but come on... They were unprofessional and could have emailed privately. The whole thing is just one big miscommunication, an oppsie. They gained from doing this and I'm sure they knew they would.
-
Honestly, I’m not sure if messaging him privately would have worked. I’d like to think that he would change the way he does his videos after receiving an email, but that may not be the case. Sometimes these things are best done on a public platform.
-
I agree. Sometimes people need to be pressured to do the right thing. And if this got them more attention, I'm fine with that. Indie developers do need more attention, they make some great games!

Sadly
@PirateSoftware by making this public you have called in the extremists against@MatPatGT by accident. I know this was done with no antagonistic purposes but I feel this would have been better handled in private -
Game theory constantly clickbaiting stuff as ‘IS THIS THE NEXT UNDERTALE?’ ‘THIS REMINDS ME OF UNDERTALE!’ and or shitty frowning edits of Sans was a big enough annoying trend that it deserved a public call out imo.

Man, I'd love to see if they do this to all other creators that dont do this. Its petty that
@PirateSoftware is calling out one person over something small -
It's not small, and it is NOT petty. I'm a Game Theorist fan myself, but I'm am VERY disappointed in them for this. They didn't give credit to a game that is trying to make money. That can be very hurtful to the company.

MatPat payed to play your game... he and his team don't really owe you anything. By purchasing the game he also "bought" the right to comment on it and express his opinion. It'd be one thing if you sent him a review code/copy but you didnt so you dont dictate how they present it
-
You are SOOOOO right. Not like they paid for a review or even gave a free copy in exchange for a review. When I write an Amazon review or a Blog Review, Im not obligated in any way.

Why didn't you say anything about this a year ago when basically the exact same thing happened? Is it because you recently released your game and any publicity is good publicity? Gotta boost sales somehow.
-
They did. Gotta do your research somehow before accusing others.

I think there is wrong on both sides just not the way you think. The channel is wrong (GTLive) in the sense that the titles were clickbait that did not relate well. Unless stated a person does not need to directly link. It would be nice but not needed. On the other side you did
-
You did put on the work and deserve credit. But calling someone out on twitter first is not the best solution to do. Try PM or email and talk or just promote yourself. If you did then calling out is a step.
-
Maybe they tried and it was ignored? How'd you know? We can't see their DMs.
-
They maybe did, but they did not state they did as far as I know. If they did say they did then it was ok to go to Twitter.
