I'm trying to explain to my son (7) the many reasons why buying an EUR300 lego set is wrong even if one has the money.

If he has the money, let him go for it. If he later has regrets, he’ll learn. If he has no regrets than that’s cool too. But if you micromanage him now he’ll just learn later… with a 30,000 euro car :)

He does not have the money, he is 7. He already have tons of lego, as gifts from various people. We are trying to explain why we don't want him to want an additional EUR300 lego set, in effect we are teaching him what EUR300 means.
