Am I the only one who actually LIKES @TeamYouTube's decision to (re)raise the #PartnerProgram requirements to 1,000 subs / 4,000 hours?
#BackInMyDay you needed to be INVITED. Being partnered was sometihng you EARNED. It meant something! Twitch is the same way!

4,000 watch hours a year isn't much for a viral video... Like, the first episode my
#Myst lets play scored just around that much in 2017; and it is definitely NOT a "viral" video.
Yeah, but 1000 subscribers can be very hard to hit. I've also heard some people who make for example repair tutorials get a lot of traffic from searches but not many subscribers. Presumably these sorts of people are the 1% YouTube mentioned in their blog post.
