I know this is a crazy idea from an ignorant foreigner - but why don't you just TRY giving up some of your guns, to see what happens?
Start with the AR-15, which is now used in almost every mass shooting. Make it more difficult, not easier, for lunatics to murder.

Give it up Piers , it’s so ingrained in their culture it will sadly never change . More than one million American deaths from guns since John Lennon was killed and still they want more firearms. Trump and the NRA won’t be happy until everyone has a gun .

Guess what many more people are saved by guns than murdered by them. Guns are not the problem, mental illness and ideology is. Look at the UK, no guns, but a shit load of stabbings, acid attacks and grooming gangs.

Dear Mr. Morgan,
Giving up "some of our guns" will not make it more difficult for lunatics to murder. Also, we do not give up our Constitutional rights in order to make some people feel better.
