If you were teaching a high school class on Buddhism, what 3-5 things would it be non-negotiable for an 11th or 12th grader to walk away knowing?

Number two for me is the notion of meditation. Whatever you think is going on in that space (and Buddhists have a whole lot of different ideas about what exactly is going on), the whole notion that you can transform your perception of reality through practice is I think key.

Number three, I'd introduce the whole cosmos of Buddhas and bodhisattvas traveling across dimensions and manifesting stuff here and there. Throw in Vimalakirti, some other badasses with crazy siddhis, and hardcore bodhisattva warriors of compassion doing battle with maras.
