It is human nature to become more conservative (= take less risks) as we age. And yes, people are not very good at risk assessment...

If I understood it correctly Graeber seemed to suggest, that conservative values mostly make an appearance along with property and “important” jobs, and since young people hardly stand a chance to acquire any of this, “with age people turn conservative” might soon change.
