When I heard that the attack might've been motivated by incel hate, I wasn't surprised. It's scary how pervasive this culture is online and amongst communities I used to love participating in. Read this thread if you have any interest in feminism and/or toxic masculinity.https://twitter.com/ArshyMann/status/988818797086871558 …
No, but they are all connected. Manosphere is an umbrella term for male oriented online communities. Incel are included under that umbrella. If you are incel, you're prob alt right, but not necessarily vice versa. And toxic masc is the societal term for it.

Thank you. But Incel was begun by a nice lady who just wanted a 'lonely hearts' online community. Has it become that bad? And it's men only? Is all the manosphere toxic? Sigh...the internet was supposed to make the world a better place.

I had no idea it was started by a queer woman. It is definitely not anywhere near that now. They are anti-LGBT+ and very misogynistic. It's all about sex for them and they think that gay people and females can get sex whenever they want no matter what they look like.

A Canadian woman started it twenty years ago as an all-inclusive site. I don't know if she was gay herself. It was meant as a supportive movement. Yeah the term has corrupted since then, like so much on the internet.
