If IRs can only hold authenticated ORCIDs, that means that for multi-author papers deposited there, only the author that is affiliated with that institution will be referred to with an ORCID in the deposit. How will the other co-authors be referenced in the deposit record?

I agree Tomasz. What prompted your comments? Have you run into some GDPR zealots?!

I've been working on integrating ORCID with our IR while thinking about the Next Gen Repository functionality that requires all authors to have ID. If we can't use ORCIDs in our IRs for some of the authors, then we need another global ID to use! That doesn't bode well for ORCID.

Doesn't solve all/most of the problems, but Co-author ORCID ids from imports should populate. The plugin restriction is only on the manual entry - not the storage of the data.
